Day 18 - The King is Coming!
Matthew 2:1-2 NKJV 1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, [a]wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”
Footnote [a] wise men original Greek magi - these men were from Persia and were astrologers and most likely kings themselves. From their studies of the heavens they knew an appearance of the star indicated a significant event but would not know exactly what that was.
In this modern day and surrounded by the latest technology, if we want to find something we search the internet. Need a location? You use google maps. A word definition? Dictionary.com. News? Weather? You get my point. We do it all from the comfort of a recliner and believe whatever the internet site trolls out as truth. Imagine “reading” nature. The skies above for season changes and the very plants and animals and their habits and then making decisions based on what you saw and experienced, not on what someone else told you. The wise men saw a new star in the sky and it was so compelling that they absolutely knew something of great importance was represented by this star. As kings themselves they would have understood the significance of not only finding out the meaning of this but also paying respects to whom the star announced. So rare was this event, that they deemed it of utmost importance to take with them specific gifts.
Have you received an invitation this holiday season? Perhaps to a children’s play or a church event? Have you dismissed it as unimportant? I encourage you to think again. There are no coincidences in life and especially not during the season of Christmas. This just might be your chance to witness something out of the ordinary or even be the person to provide a much needed gift. There’s no formula here, just a “listening” with your spirit and responding in a way that means you are “all in”, invested and want to experience this for yourself, and not from the accounts of others.
