Simple Prayer

Never underestimate the power of your simple prayer. Back in the day we used to call them “arrow prayers" because we could only pray quickly and not go into much detail. For example, you're driving down the road and suddenly someone comes to mind so you say a quick prayer for them. Or you see an accident on the side of the road and you utter a quick prayer for the people involved or perhaps you are at work and God puts someone right in front of you who just needs His help and while you might not be able to go to them and discover their need in detail, you say a prayer for them. You may get a text asking for prayer. You may see a social media post asking for prayer. You may be preparing dinner or doing groceries or paying bills and you are prompted to pray for someone.

The prayer might be just one sentence or it might lead you to completely stop what you are doing and focus on the person or situation which you are praying for but in every single case, your simple prayer matters.

Imagine the same scenario multiplied by dozens, if not thousands and suddenly you have a collective chorus of incense rising to the heavenlies to stir the Father’s heart. I like to picture my simple prayer joining the ranks of many more in accomplishing the will of the Father. No prayer is wasted. No prayer falls to the ground or hits the ceiling. When I imagine that my little prayer is not alone, I can believe great things will happen because of it. Don't ever let anyone tell you that your prayer wasn't long enough or grand enough or spiritual enough. Beloved it was more than enough.

“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much”.

James 5:16

Or in modern language, meaningful, persistent prayer of a child of God changes stuff!
