Lamentations 3:22-23
The tall grass bends reluctantly in the summer wind. Birds nestle among the branches and wild rabbits dart purposefully between the assortment of undergrowth and shrubs. Barely a few neighbors have stirred on this quiet morning and the sky has not yet revealed her intention for the day ahead. Fresh, untainted and ready to be written into the annals of history, the day is a clean slate. An opportunity to choose wisely. Perhaps yesterday was a disaster for you. You had hopes and dreams and good intentions but somehow your day was derailed and ended with disappointment or indeed, regret.
Each new morning presents itself in unique splendor. No two mornings are ever exactly alike. And with that knowledge comes the chance to do things differently, think differently, speak differently. Somewhere in the night, between sleeping and waking there is an unseen occurrence that wiped away the burdens of yesterday and replaced them with expectations for today. Scripture tells us in Lamentations 3:22-23:
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
His mercies never come to an end;
They are new every morning;
Great is your faithfulness”.
Before the day starts you have the opportunity to call upon the Lord and His endless love. No matter what you have done or thought or said, there is hope for today in Jesus. You might mess up over and over again but you can count on His faithfulness and His mercy, not yours. Afterall, you tried it your way yesterday. How about doing it His way today.
As nature pauses and appears to hold its breath each morning, awaiting the arrival of yet another magnificent day, so too can we pause and anticipate all that God the Father has in store for us. Don't miss the part of the verse that says He loves you. He's not asking for perfection today, He just wants to love you right where you are. Maybe this morning feels worse than yesterday but it still doesn't change who God is and who He wants to be for you today. If you are without hope, without an end to your situation, lean in to the Father and let Him be everything He desires to be for you. I guarantee He is all you need and He is enough.
